Woodshop + Membership

About the Woodshop:

The woodshop may collect a lot of dust, but it’s all sawdust! Shop members, private studio artists, youth from various groups, and the wider community use this space to work on a variety of projects, ranging from frame building, furniture making, sculpture, etc. Studio members get 24/7 access to the space with a monthly membership fee. We also offer free open woodshop hours two times a month (the 1st and 3rd Saturdays) from 11am-3pm where anyone can come with a project to work on and use our equipment with assistance from our shop manager. Youth (12 - 18yrs) are welcome to come to open woodshop but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The woodshop contains a variety of power saws (table saw, miter saw), sanders, drill press, as well as a large variety of hand tools and hardware. Studio members also get a small amount of space to store wood or projects.

Woodshop membership :

The shop membership is open to anyone 18yr+ with basic knowledge on how to work with wood and the various tools in the shop. We do not provide training, so members need to be independent. All members and visitors to the monthly open woodshop need to complete a safety training with our shop manager before using the space.

The base membership is $45/month for Non-Resident Artist studio members. Membership to the studio is paid month to month via digital invoice sent to your inbox at the beginning of each month, and includes:

  • 24/7 access to the studio (with the exception of some classes or private events)

  • Access to all the equipment in the studio

  • Some storage space (as approved by shop manager)

  • discounts to Intersect events

For resident artists (people who rent a studio space upstairs): Resident artists can add access to the woodshop for $20 on top of their regular monthly studio rent. This includes 24/7 access to the woodshop space.
