First Saturday of the Month | 10am - 12pm

This family-friendly workshop is designed for both children and adults to create together, making it a unique bonding experience. The workshop will take place on the first Saturday of each month and will feature a different theme or activity each time. The specific focus of the class will vary month-to-month, allowing families to explore different ceramics techniques and projects.

The instructor will select the monthly theme or activity, ensuring that it is fun, engaging, and accessible for both children and adults. Themes may range from hand-building techniques, such as pinch pots or coil-building, to sculptural projects or decorative pottery. The goal is to foster creativity, provide hands-on learning, and encourage family collaboration in the artistic process.

ArtVentures

ArtVentures is an after-school arts program for students in grades K–8. Students are placed in small, consistent groups of 8–12 peers and learn alongside our teaching artists. Our teachers are practicing artists working across disciplines, including visual arts, ceramics, dance, fashion, sculpture, creative writing, photography, and culinary arts. Through hands-on, project-based learning, students explore new materials and techniques while developing their own creative voice. Each year builds toward opportunities to share their work through performances, exhibitions, and community showcases.

For middle school students seeking deeper artistic engagement, ArtVentures offers an Arts & Leadership Micro-Program embedded in the afterschool program. This opportunity is designed for students who feel a strong connection to the arts and want to grow further. Participants explore more advanced techniques, engage in group critiques, and build self-leadership skills through independent studies and collaborative projects.

The program is grounded in culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices. We create a space where young people are valued, seen, and given room to take risks. This approach shapes how we build relationships, create lesson plans, respond to challenges, and support each student’s and teachers' growth. Our role isn’t just to keep students safe; it’s to help them build a community where they know how to make each other feel safe, too.

Teen Apprentice Program

The Teen Apprenticeship Program is a space in which youth can explore ideas through the arts, develop conflict resolution skills, professionalism, and strong relationships with peers and mentors.  Students will be matched with a mentor in a discipline of their choosing: music, woodworking/sculpture, ceramics, graphic design painting/drawing, photography/video, creative writing.

The Teen Apprenticeship Program will serve 18 students, ages 13-19, who will attend Intersect for a total of 10 hours per week at Intersect Arts Center.

The program is a 2 month long commitment during the summer through the months of June and July. This diverse group meets at Intersect throughout the week to work with art professionals, investigate current exhibitions, make art, plan an art exhibition and support each other on a journey of self-discovery.
