Equipping Artists | Engaging Youth | Enriching Community

ABOUT intersect

Intersect Arts Center is a creative community dedicated to equipping artists, engaging youth, and enriching community, by providing arts opportunities in the Gravois Park and Dutchtown neighborhoods.

Our mission is to bring together a diverse intersection of people to create a collective expression of identity and belonging, to increase access to the arts, to build appreciation of the diversity in our neighborhood, and to use an interdisciplinary approach to make it a vibrant place to create, grow, and thrive!

gallery

Our exhibition spaces hosts 4-8 exhibitions a year with an emphasis on building new arts audiences and supporting emerging artists and artist-curators. We also partner with local organizations for an “incubator series” that supports youth, therapy, or alternatively led exhibitions and projects.  The gallery also serves as a space for lectures, performances, recitals, screenings, and conferences.

Education

Youth - Intersect provides a small group mentorship model in our elementary program, Artventures.  Working in teams of 2-4 students, teaching artists share their individual craft and passion 4 days a week afterschool.

Teens - During the school year, teens are paid to work under a teaching artists in the small mentorship groups and a junior mentor.  During the Summer, teens partner individually or in pairs with a teaching artist to learn their craft, develop arts career skills, and produce an exhibition. Teens also meet for weekly workshops and arts classes to explore various mediums and develop artistic skills.

Adults - Intersect hosts teaching artists in a variety of disciplines for adult weekend workshops and semester long classes.
